e.l.f review - eyelid primer

When I ordered the primer I was secretly hoping this would be a 'holy grail' find and that I wouldn't have to splash out on the Urban Decay eye primer potion I had been eyeing up (no pun intended!) , but seriously at £1.50 what was I really expecting?

For me the smell of a product going anywhere near my face is very important, so imagine the horror when I sniffed the elf primer, and to double check I wasn't being over fussy I asked my boyfriend to have a sniff - we made the same conclusion, the primer smelt like emulsion paint. Gross!!

The consistency of the primer wasn't much better. It was clumpy and gel like. Is that how they're suppose to be as this is the first eyelid primer I've ever bought?

Applied it dries to a matte finish but I didn't think the coverage wasn't very good as I saw no difference to my eyelid. I chose not to keep it on because of the smell so whether it lasts will remain a mystery.

I definitely DO NOT recommend this even at £1.50!

Hmmmm... I forgot to buy this in my ELF haul! So annoying but I checked a couple of youtube videos on the difference between the Urban Decay one and this and apparantly they both very very similar only th UD one is extortionate. It's not supposed to offer coverage but just to keep the concealer & most importantly the eyeshadows in place all day/night long. Did you manage to try that out?

Ahh I see! No I didn't because it smells so nasty. I hope the UD one doesn't smell the same, but to be honest I might give it a miss as I have other products higher on my wishlist!

Skincare
1)How many times do you wash your face daily?
M: I wash my face in warm water with a flannel in the morning and then with product in the evening.
A: Once in the morning and once in the evening.

2)What skin type do you have?
M: Years ago a beauty sales assistant did a test on me where she put a microscope type pen gadget on my face to project my skin and pores onto a computer screen. It showed I had combination skin.
A:Dry, sometimes very dry

3)What is your current facial wash?
M: I tend to alternate so I’m using a new product from Neutrogena (can’t remember exact name!) and a DHC oil cleanser and DHC soap.
A: L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam.

4)Do you exfoliate?
M: Not very often.
A: Yes at least once a week

5)What brand do you use?
M: St.Ives
A: Sanctuary

6)What moisturiser do you use?
M: I’ currently using Boots’ time delay night cream and either nivea general moisturiser or DHC serum for day.
A: Avene Anti-redness Rich moisturizing cream

7)Do you have freckles?
M: No not on my face, but I have some on my neck which I hate.
A: Yes on my checks

8)Do you use eye cream?
M: I sometimes use Elizabeth Arden eye cream at night and a Dermalogica one in the morning. The Dermalogica has SPF15.
A: Not really. Sometimes I’ll put on a Boots Botanic one I have

9)Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
M: No not really, I do get spots occasionally when I’m stressed or not eating healthily!
A: Nope.

10)Is there anything you dislike about your skin?
M: Yes, I have red bits on my cheeks which I believe are broken capillaries which I’ve had since I was little.
A: The dry patches, the freckles and the Rosacea like patch I get on my left cheek if I’m in the cold too long. Oh and it’s quite see through, you can see my veins!!

Make-up

11)What foundation do you use?
M: For work I use Everyday Mineral powdered foundation as it’s quick and easy. If I have more time I use MAC Mineralize.
A: Ispa

12)How about concealer?
M: MAC
A: Kevin Beautymaker AquaEyes concealer

13)Do you know your undertone colour?
M: Yellow!
A:Yellow

14)What do you think of fake eyelashes?
M: Great if it doesn’t look ridiculously Jordon-esque!
A: Great for nights out

15)Did you know you were supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
M: Yes, but I don’t!
A: Yes

16)What brand of mascara do you use?
M: Elizabeth Arden and Maybelline (not the pink and lime one)
A: Fiberwig, a fantastic mascara

17)What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
M: Foundation brush, Blusher brush, Powder brush, Eyelash Curlers and fingers!
A: Fingers or sponge for foundation and a blusher brush for blush. Eyelash curlers and a fine slanted brush if I’m applying eyeliner

18)Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?
M: No
A: Yes, Too faced or Nars

19)For the face?
M: I moisturise and occasionally put on face sunscreen. I do have primer but don’t use it.
A: Yes an Ispa one

20)What is your favourite eyeshadow?colour or shade?
M: I like dark eyes
A:Nudes

21)Do you use pencil or liquid liner?
M: Liquid if I have time, pencil if I’m feeling lazy.
A:Both, pencil only if working

22)What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
M: I like the intensity of colour.
A:Nice if you want attention drawn to the eyes

M: Yep
A: No

24)What is your favourite lipstick?
M: Don’t have one.
A: Never wear lipstick

M: Don’t have one.
A: Benefit Her Glossiness, but I think they’ve changed it now!

M: NARS

M: No

M: Yep

M: Depends what mood I’m in.
