OPI Austin-tatious turquoise

The sun is out and I'm feeling super summery. I've been holed up in a dark room for quite some time but thankfully I have until June to top-up on my Vitamin D and to have pretty nails before I have to return!!

Today I've chosen a lovely shimmery turquoise from OPI's Texas collection (Spring/Summer 2011) called Austin-tatious turquoise. In darker lighting you can see the purple duochrome.

(I used a base, x3 generous coats of polish because it is super sheer and a top coat)

Fifties Make-up

This is what I put on for my 50's themed party...

Eye: Maybelline nude and Body Shop shimmery light gold coloured eyeshadow, MAC Black Fluidline eyeliner, Maybelline discontinued mascara.

Face: Bare Minerals Primer, MAC mineralize foundation, Bare Minerals spf 15 foundation, Nars Orgasm Blusher.

Lips: MAC Brick Lipliner, MAC Russian Red Matte Lipstick.

Hair: Pin curls worn overnight.

Red

On a Saturday I am usually the first to wake up so I thought I'd take the opportunity with no one about to paint my nails ready for the party I'm going to this evening. I hate the smell of nail varnish so I painted it in the bathroom before going to the front room to watch the Saturday morning cooking programmes.

I also decided to harvest these chili peppers before the frost kill them all!

New lips!

Finally decided on the red lipstick!

I came home from work and found my online order on the table and just slapped it on over worn off foundation and tired eyes. I was initially quite shocked when I finished applying the lip liner and lipstick, the colour is very vibrant and pigmented. It's still on now after dinner, so it does have real staying power!

I'm wondering if anyone can guess what brand and colour I have on? :)

Sleek Rose Gold Blush a dupe for NARS Orgasm?

Unfortunately when I had the opportunity to buy NARS Orgasm I went for an eyeshadow instead LOL so cannot make a comparison for you ladies but I've read it is very similar. Here are some pics and swatch, what do you think?

The blush is quite pigmented, gold shimmers with a pinky red undertone.

Lovely isn't it? I think it's slightly more red than Orgasm but I'd be interested to know whether you ladies think it is a dupe so I can pat myself on the back for saving that £20!!

Bare Mineral Prime Time Primer

I treated myself to this bare mineral prime time primer in the summer as my friend tried it out in Brighton when looking for wedding make-up. She said it was great and would keep the grease at bay. To be honest I don't really get that oily so I've not really noticed it on me. I bought it to complement my mineral foundation, so it goes on smoother and doesn't cake up. I really like the feel of the primer, you only need a tiny bit as it goes a long way. Overall it does help in providing a smooth base for mineral foundation, I haven't tried it with liquid foundation though.

Skincare
1)How many times do you wash your face daily?
M: I wash my face in warm water with a flannel in the morning and then with product in the evening.
A: Once in the morning and once in the evening.

2)What skin type do you have?
M: Years ago a beauty sales assistant did a test on me where she put a microscope type pen gadget on my face to project my skin and pores onto a computer screen. It showed I had combination skin.
A:Dry, sometimes very dry

3)What is your current facial wash?
M: I tend to alternate so I’m using a new product from Neutrogena (can’t remember exact name!) and a DHC oil cleanser and DHC soap.
A: L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam.

4)Do you exfoliate?
M: Not very often.
A: Yes at least once a week

5)What brand do you use?
M: St.Ives
A: Sanctuary

6)What moisturiser do you use?
M: I’ currently using Boots’ time delay night cream and either nivea general moisturiser or DHC serum for day.
A: Avene Anti-redness Rich moisturizing cream

7)Do you have freckles?
M: No not on my face, but I have some on my neck which I hate.
A: Yes on my checks

8)Do you use eye cream?
M: I sometimes use Elizabeth Arden eye cream at night and a Dermalogica one in the morning. The Dermalogica has SPF15.
A: Not really. Sometimes I’ll put on a Boots Botanic one I have

9)Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
M: No not really, I do get spots occasionally when I’m stressed or not eating healthily!
A: Nope.

10)Is there anything you dislike about your skin?
M: Yes, I have red bits on my cheeks which I believe are broken capillaries which I’ve had since I was little.
A: The dry patches, the freckles and the Rosacea like patch I get on my left cheek if I’m in the cold too long. Oh and it’s quite see through, you can see my veins!!

M: For work I use Everyday Mineral powdered foundation as it’s quick and easy. If I have more time I use MAC Mineralize.

M: MAC

M: Yellow!

14)What do you think of fake eyelashes?
M: Great if it doesn’t look ridiculously Jordon-esque!

M: Yes, but I don’t!

M: Elizabeth Arden and Maybelline (not the pink and lime one)
A: Fiberwig, a fantastic mascara

M: Foundation brush, Blusher brush, Powder brush, Eyelash Curlers and fingers!
A: Fingers or sponge for foundation and a blusher brush for blush. Eyelash curlers and a fine slanted brush if I’m applying eyeliner

M: No
A: Yes, Too faced or Nars

M: I moisturise and occasionally put on face sunscreen. I do have primer but don’t use it.
