Nails

My holidays are coming to an end rather rapidly and before I have to cut my nails to a sensible length and remove all traces of nail polish I thought I'd have a go at blinging them up! I saw how pretty the gold glitter looked on Make Me Blushhh's blog and wanted to give it a go. Here's the result...

I was worried they'd look a bit garish but the gold glitter is quite subtle but adds a nice girly touch. On MMB's nails she used polish from Sephora a store we no longer have in the UK so after visiting the usual high-street haunts I ended up having to buy my polish on eBay (seller: kissnmakeupx). It only cost £2.75 and came through the post very quickly.

Easily pleased

It was only this morning I thought to myself I needed to get long foam applicators so I'm not constantly trying to dislodge them from the bottom of my pot. Well look what I found from Muji...

No more messy pot and no more rummaging to find the applicator that matches the eyeshadow. It reminds of the coloured pencils that stack into one I had in school over 15 years ago!
Ah I'm so easily pleased!

Birthday Treats

It was my birthday last week and I was lucky enough to receive some beauty products and money to buy beauty products! Here are some of them... I forgot to include the chocolate face mask from Taiwan that A got me.

I was given Burt's Bees hand lotion and the Johnson's baby powder, no I do not have a baby! I mentioned in passing that I like the smell of the talc. I was also given some money and bought two products from Bare Minerals (SPF 15 Foundation and Prime Time foundation primer) and a lipbalm from Burt's Bees.

I really love the Burt's Bees hand lotion. The packaging is cute and the smell of banana is so delicious it makes you want to lick your fingers! I like the consistancy of the lotion, when you dip your finger in to get a scoop it's thick and creamy and leaves a indentation which I find quite satisfying! At first it feels a little oily but this soon disappears after a few seconds of rubbing it in it. I've been doing a lot of DIY lately, this has come in handy.

The Burt's Bees lipbalm is refreshing as it has peppermint in it. I quite like it but I think it takes time to get use to the tingling sensation on your lips.

Skincare
1)How many times do you wash your face daily?
M: I wash my face in warm water with a flannel in the morning and then with product in the evening.
A: Once in the morning and once in the evening.

2)What skin type do you have?
M: Years ago a beauty sales assistant did a test on me where she put a microscope type pen gadget on my face to project my skin and pores onto a computer screen. It showed I had combination skin.
A:Dry, sometimes very dry

3)What is your current facial wash?
M: I tend to alternate so I’m using a new product from Neutrogena (can’t remember exact name!) and a DHC oil cleanser and DHC soap.
A: L’Occitane Immortelle Brightening Cleansing Foam.

4)Do you exfoliate?
M: Not very often.
A: Yes at least once a week

5)What brand do you use?
M: St.Ives
A: Sanctuary

6)What moisturiser do you use?
M: I’ currently using Boots’ time delay night cream and either nivea general moisturiser or DHC serum for day.
A: Avene Anti-redness Rich moisturizing cream

7)Do you have freckles?
M: No not on my face, but I have some on my neck which I hate.
A: Yes on my checks

8)Do you use eye cream?
M: I sometimes use Elizabeth Arden eye cream at night and a Dermalogica one in the morning. The Dermalogica has SPF15.
A: Not really. Sometimes I’ll put on a Boots Botanic one I have

9)Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
M: No not really, I do get spots occasionally when I’m stressed or not eating healthily!
A: Nope.

10)Is there anything you dislike about your skin?
M: Yes, I have red bits on my cheeks which I believe are broken capillaries which I’ve had since I was little.
A: The dry patches, the freckles and the Rosacea like patch I get on my left cheek if I’m in the cold too long. Oh and it’s quite see through, you can see my veins!!

M: For work I use Everyday Mineral powdered foundation as it’s quick and easy. If I have more time I use MAC Mineralize.

M: MAC

M: Yellow!

14)What do you think of fake eyelashes?
M: Great if it doesn’t look ridiculously Jordon-esque!

M: Yes, but I don’t!
A: Yes

M: Elizabeth Arden and Maybelline (not the pink and lime one)
A: Fiberwig, a fantastic mascara

17)What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
M: Foundation brush, Blusher brush, Powder brush, Eyelash Curlers and fingers!
A: Fingers or sponge for foundation and a blusher brush for blush. Eyelash curlers and a fine slanted brush if I’m applying eyeliner

18)Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?
M: No
A: Yes, Too faced or Nars

19)For the face?
M: I moisturise and occasionally put on face sunscreen. I do have primer but don’t use it.
A: Yes an Ispa one
